De AQuÍ NADie NoS SAcA Exhibition at La Quince, Santurce

The month of July culminates with the opening of La Quince, a pop-up cultural space in collaboration with Mijente, at #960 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Santurce. La Quince will house an art exhibition of contemporary social struggles in our archipelago and the artist residency of master barber Juan Pablo Vízcaino Cortijo. La Quince will have a dedicated space where visitors can directly support the artists and organizations featured in the exhibition.

El mes de julio culmina con la apertura de La Quince, un proyecto cultural tipo “pop-up” en colaboración con Mijente, en la #960 Avenida Ponce de León en Santurce. La Quince albergará una exhibición de arte de las luchas sociales contemporáneas en nuestro archipiélago y la residencia artística del maestro barbero, Juan Pablo Vízcaino Cortijo. La Quince tendrá un espacio dedicado para que visitantes puedan apoyar directamente a las artistas y organizaciones en la exhibición.

Banner-making workshop with the LGBTQIA+ Committee of FMPR

On June 16 and 18 we led a banner-making workshop for the new LGBTQIA+ Committee of the Puerto Rican Federation of Teachers (FMPR), to participate in the Pride March on June 22. The workshop, facilitated by artist Javier Maldonado-O’Farrill, included an introduction to the importance of placards in protests, showing examples by Papel Machete, then we discussed messages that would move the group to the process of creating stencils, painting and assembling the placards. 

Taller de pancartas con el Comité LGBTQIA+ de la FMPR

El pasado 16 y 18 de junio lideramos un taller de pancartas para el nuevo Comité LGBTQIA+ de la Federación de Maestras y Maestros de Puerto Rico (FMPR), para participar junto a elles en la Marcha de Orgullo el pasado 22 de junio. El taller facilitado por el artista Javier Maldonado-O’Farrill, incluyó una introducción a la importancia de las pancartas en las protestas mostrando como ejemplos algunas hechas por Papel Machete, luego se discutieron los mensajes que llevarían las mismas para pasar al proceso de crear los stencils, pintar y ensamblar.
