Solamaente alrededor de 500 escuelas están preparadas para resistir terremotos en Puerto Rico. Este número representa menos del 50% del total de escuelas en Puerto Rico. No existe un directorio que especifique cuáles escuelas están preparadas. En las últimas semanas una serie de terremotos se han sentido en el archipiélago, incluyendo un terremoto de 6.4 el 7 de enero de 2020. La falta de preparación de las escuelas es motivo de preocupación.
