Since January, we have been producing short rapid response videos reporting on the political climate in Puerto Rico, covering everything from the earthquakes and homelessness to the pandemic and mutual aid efforts throughout the archipelago.  This program also includes publication projects created/co-created by AgitArte. Publications enable us to share the agitational work of AgitArte and Papel Machete with broader audiences. Since 2016 we have produced several publications and popular education materials that contest dominant narratives and share stories and political analysis about issues oppressing working class people, including the book, platform and now podcast When We Fight, We Win!, co-created with Greg Jobin-Leeds. In 2019, we launched the When We Fight, We Win!: The Podcast and the second season begins December 3rd, available everywhere you get your podcasts, and directly from the When We Fight, We Win! website.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator type="normal" up="20px" down="20px"][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

Add to this the struggles that we have been waging since before Hurricane María and that we continue fighting against a corrupt and illegitimate government.   THE WAY TO SURVIVE HAS BEEN THROUGH COLLECTIVE ORGANIZATION AND SOLIDARITY NETWORKS OF MUTUAL SUPPORT. DESPITE THE LIMITATIONS OF SOCIAL DISTANCING, WE DO NOT FORGET EACH OTHER. WE CONTINUE TO ORGANIZE AND MOBILIZE.   After the arrival of the COVID-19 crisis, AgitArte reactivated and continued mutual aid efforts from Hurricane María and the recent earthquakes in Puerto Rico. Understanding that under U.S. colonization and late stage capitalism, our people will continue to be disproportionately impacted by natural and political disasters, we have developed a Mutual Aid & Cultural Solidarity Program to continue supporting our community, paying our artists and organizers, and meeting immediate needs on the ground. Through our Mutual Aid program, AgitArte has been and will continue facilitating the following efforts to aid our intimate and broader community in Puerto Rico and the diaspora during this profoundly challenging time: Community Outreach & Safety Paid Work + Regranting to artists, organizers and healers  Rapid Cultural Response Artist Network  [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator type="normal" up="20px" down="20px"][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Desde que comenzó el 2020 hemos combatido toda suerte de adversidades, desde los terremotos que han dejado a miles sin hogar hasta la actual pandemia que nos mantiene en aislamiento indefinido.

Through this program, we extend our resources as a nonprofit to grassroots and militant cultural organizing groups and collectives fighting for liberation in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Radical theater and puppetry collective, Papel Machete is a model  of this program.   Since its founding in 2006, Papel Machete has been a laboratory for disruptive storytelling projects using papier-mâché as a medium and varying forms of ancestral, pre-cinematic narrative forms like toy theater, cantastoria, shadow theater, table-top puppetry, humanettes, cut-outs, masks, and giant puppets. Through PEPP, we aim to build solidarity across struggles and redirect resources to unincorporated, independent groups, like Papel Machete, that contest dominant narratives through popular education.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="normal"][vc_column_text]EL PROGRAMA DE EDUCACIÓN POPULAR Y PERFORMANCE (PEPP) apoya y desarrolla proyectos de educación popular para la agitación que utilizan teatro, títeres, artes visuales y música. The exchange has several areas of focus, including popular education on issues effecting Puerto Rico, skill shares between areas of work on projects within the collective at time of exchange, cultural exchange: music, art, language, and collective living. GOALS: The collective work and studio space create space for visiting artist/s in residence to create work presented in Puerto Rico and abroad. The possibility of more workshop space has promoted the establishment of new goals, reinforced existing creative projects, and strengthens our ties with the Santurce community through the development of new projects that have allowed us to continue to collectively contribute to our social liberation. This space functions as an artist live/work space and cultural organizing hub. We offer workshops, art builds and community events, and host guest and resident artists from around the world. After Hurricane María, Casa Taller provided housing, food, and communication support to the Santurce community, as well as receiving aid from the diaspora and redistributing it through the network fo Centros de Apoyo Mutuo - CAMs (mutual Aid Centers). Casa Taller Cangrejera is directed by AgitArte's Program Coordinator, Sugeily Rodríguez Lebrón with support from AgitArte's Director, Jorge Díaz Ortiz.  Both Jorge and Sugeily are active members of Papel Machete. Together, they are responsible for the coordination and implementation of projects at Casa Taller and other proposals and initiatives that arise from individuals or groups that are consonant with the vision and mission of AgitArte, and comprehensively strengthen our community. Aside from serving as a space for creative development of our artists, Casa Taller is also a space of resistance and collective liberation through popular education. La Huerta de Casa Taller Cangrejera (food garden) hosts multigenerational community urban gardening workshops and supplies fresh food to the Casa Taller Cangrejera community.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner row_type="row" type="full_width" text_align="left" css_animation=""][vc_column_inner width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="287" img_size="full" add_caption="yes" qode_css_animation="" css=".vc_custom_1552506825474{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;}"][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="1197" img_size="full" add_caption="yes" qode_css_animation=""][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="1472" img_size="full" add_caption="yes" qode_css_animation=""][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]...
